What would you like social media to do better?

People rarely arrive at an Empower Hour saying "I would like precisely 60 minutes of platform-specific instruction." They are far more likely to say they have run out of ideas, or feel that social media is taking far too much time for far too little return. Both are perfectly good places to begin.

I need a clearer social media strategy

It is possible to post consistently and still have no real strategy behind the activity. A strategy gives your content a job to do — connecting the time you spend on social media to the people you need to reach and the wider aims of the business.

During an Empower Hour, we can look at what you want social media to achieve, which audiences matter and which platforms deserve your attention. We can discuss what success should look like and develop an approach that reflects your resources. This is particularly useful for new businesses, organisations starting again after a period of inactivity or anyone who feels they are posting simply because they ought to.

I never know what to post

Most businesses have more content available than they realise. The challenge is recognising it and turning it into something their audience will find useful or interesting.

We can draw ideas from your services, customer questions, knowledge, team, business activity and the conversations you already have every day. The aim is not to create an enormous content calendar that becomes another source of pressure. We can build a workable bank of ideas, identify recurring themes and create a planning method that fits around your business. We can also look at caption structure, calls to action, tone of voice and how to write content that sounds like you.

I want to improve Instagram

Instagram training can be shaped around the part of the platform that matters to you.

We might look at your profile and whether it clearly explains who you help and what you offer. We can review your content mix, Reels, Stories, captions, engagement and use of location information. We can also look at social search and the words people may use when trying to find a business like yours. If video is the sticking point, we can develop realistic ideas that suit your confidence and business. You do not need to dance, point at floating text or perform a personality that bears no resemblance to the person your customers actually meet.

I want LinkedIn to work harder

LinkedIn can support professional visibility, business development, recruitment and career progression — but only when your profile and activity give people a reason to pay attention.

We can optimise your personal profile, review your company page or look at how the two should work together. You may want to develop your professional voice, plan thought-leadership content or build a more relevant network. You might be looking for a new role and need your profile to communicate your experience more effectively. We can make LinkedIn feel more purposeful and considerably less like a room full of people standing on boxes and shouting about leadership.

I need help with Facebook

Facebook remains valuable for many local businesses, organisations, communities and events.

Your session could focus on improving your business page, planning more relevant content or using Facebook to build local visibility. We can look at Groups, Events, engagement, scheduling and Meta Business Suite. We can also explore how Facebook and Instagram work together, particularly when content is being managed across both platforms.

I want to understand TikTok, YouTube or Pinterest

Not every platform belongs in every social media strategy. Before we discuss what to post, we can look at whether the platform is right for your audience.

For TikTok, we might explore account set-up, short-form video, search-led content and developing ideas without following every trend. YouTube training can cover channel set-up, longer-form video, Shorts, titles, descriptions and creating content with longer-term search value. Pinterest training can include account and board set-up, profile optimisation, keyword-led content, links and deciding whether it is a worthwhile use of your time.

I need to make sense of my analytics

Social media platforms provide a great deal of data, but not all of it is useful to every business.

We can identify which numbers matter to you and what they can tell you about your content — reach, engagement, profile activity, website clicks, audience behaviour and the actions people take after seeing your posts. Rather than staring at a collection of numbers and hoping one of them looks impressive, you will be able to use the information to make better decisions. We can also look at how to report social media activity to a client, manager, board or wider team.

I need to save time

Social media can easily expand to fill every available gap in the working week.

We can look at how you plan, create, approve and publish content and identify where the process is becoming unnecessarily complicated. This might involve scheduling through Meta Business Suite or another tool, batching content, repurposing ideas or creating a more useful monthly routine. The aim is not to add more systems for you to manage. It is to create a simpler way of working.

I want to use AI without losing my personality

AI can be helpful for idea generation, planning, repurposing and producing a rough first draft. It can also produce the same bland, overly polished wording for hundreds of different businesses.

We can look at how to write better prompts, use your own knowledge as the foundation and edit AI-generated content so that it sounds like you. We will also discuss fact-checking, brand voice, privacy and the situations where AI is not the right answer.

I want an expert view of my advertising

A focused review of an existing Meta Ads set-up can form part of an Empower Hour.

I can look at the campaign structure, objectives, audiences, creative and reporting and make recommendations for changes. Complete Meta Ads or LinkedIn Ads training cannot be delivered properly in one hour — those subjects require a longer bespoke session so that we can give them the time they deserve.

I need to set up a new account

Starting properly can save a considerable amount of time later.

We can discuss which platform to choose, how to structure the profile and what information should be included. We can also plan your initial content and make sure the account is set up with suitable access and security. Empower Hours do not cover account recovery, appeals against suspensions or attempts to regain access to accounts terminated by a platform.
